2018 – UK Tour

The United Kingdom Tour begins with two days in Edinburgh and then continues to the Scottish Highlands for four days visiting Stirling Castle, Fort William, Ben Nevis, the Isle of Skye and Mallaig on the famous steam train.  There are four walks here before we journey south to visit Hadrian’s wall and then spend four nights in the Lakes District at Wordsworth’s Grasmere.  There are two lovely walks here beside three lakes and then we travel further south to Wales with Cym Idwal, a Welsh valley and the climb of Mt Snowden, being uppermost for those who wish to do it.  All of our walks are optional and there are always alternatives offered.

From Wales we travel down to Ludlow and Stokesay Castle for a two night stay, Ludlow being a very interesting market town with an incredible range of architectural styles.  From Ludlow we walk parts of the Jurassic Coast in both Devon and Dorset with added towns and interesting features such as the Abottsbury swannery, if time permits.

The eastward journey to London includes a visit to Highclere Castle, if open at the time, Winchester Castle and Thomas Hardy’s cottage.  Hampton court Palace is a particularly favourable location and we spend a good two hours here before arriving in London for the last two nights of the tour.

Our accommodation includes interesting historical hotels and restored houses with some hotels, all breakfasts, some dinners and entry for many locations.
